Two vs. Three
Back to Activities

Description
•The two ‘dark’ players try to get out of their zone by passing the ball over the line. they attempt to play the ball in to the ‘neutral attacking player’ waiting in the middle zone.
•The ‘neutral attacking player’ then passes the ball into the final zone, goes in to support, and they then play 3 vs. 2 and try to score in either goal.
•If the defending team wins the ball at any time, they immediately attack.
•Players must stay in the zone that was assigned them, except for the neutral attacking players. They can enter the final attacking zone once they pass the ball in.
Coaching Points
Attacking:
-Play quickly, 1 & 2 touch when possible.
-Keep possession, don’t give the ball away
-attack away from pressure.
Defending:
-A real challenge since the team is always playing a player down, and, in the final third, defending 2 goals.
-Pressure / Cover
-Keep the ball in front of you, make sure 2nd defender covers in behind so as to not allow the penetrating pass.
-Force the play centrally towards help.
-Do not ‘over commit’ past your zone, since the attacking team will switch the play and get an easy goal.
